How to Treat Cavities for Kids

Posted .

Tooth decay, which is also known as a cavity, can attack the teeth of many. In fact, it can affect your child’s smile if you’re not careful. When this happens, it’s best to treat the cavity right away. This is important because the cavity can spread if you ignore it. So, if your child has a cavity, please call Hardy Smiles Pediatric Dentistry and schedule an appointment with our dentist, Dr. Troy Hardy. When you bring your child into our office, we can use one of many dental treatments to help. Some of those treatments are:

-Fluoride treatments: This is for the beginning stages of a cavity when the enamel can be restored. The fluoride will seep into the tooth and strengthen it. Essentially, it can rebuild the tooth enamel and reverse the cavity.

-Dental filling treatment: This treatment is a common cavity-helping process that involves your dentist removing the decayed enamel, cleaning the chomper, filling the hole with a composite or amalgam filling, and hardening the filling with a special light.

-Dental crown treatment: A dental crown is a tooth-shaped cap that is custom made for the tooth involved. It replaces the tooth enamel and restores all health and function. This treatment is used when the cavity is more severe and when the situation is right.
